En Plein Air

En Plein Air, or plein air painting, is a phrase borrowed from the French meanig "open (in full) air." En Plein has become a popular past time for arists and collectors.  Plein air events and competitions are happening in towns and cities all over the country.  A definition of plein air relating to painting in the outdoors seems to have been started by the impressionism artists that attempt to represent the outdoor light and air.  It is a style of painting developed in France in the mid-19th century.  It is characterized by the representation  of the brilliant effects of natural light and atmosphere in comparison to artifical light and the absence and sense of air or atmosphere that would be associated while paintings are produced in a studio

This year The Woodbine Woman's Club will have a Plein Air/Quick Draw at the start of JAZZ 'n ArRT I'm Telling! in Woodbine on the Woodbine Georgia Satilla Riverwalk.
